Vice President, Brenda Schwartzkopf called the meeting to order at 12:35 p.m.
Roll Call (Present)
Vice President, Brenda Schwartzkopf; Christine Chesser, Secretary; and board members, Darci Kite and Kirby Morris. Also in attendance was Betty Abernethy, Executive Director; Laura Wierzbicki, owner of College of Cosmetology and Cheryl Land, Instructor at the College of Cosmetology.
Diane Pennington, President was excused.
The motion was made by Darci Kite, seconded by Chris Chesser to approve the minutes as presented for the January 22, 2007 meeting, motion carried.
Executive Directors Report
Betty presented the financial statement for January and February 07. Everything is right on track. We experienced a huge jump in reciprocity, which happens periodically. Salon renewals have still been coming in with about 80 still not renewed. Any salons not renewed by end of March will need to reapply.
Inspectors Report
A written report was included in the Board packets from Inspector Brenda Mathre. Matt's totals were included in Brenda's'. Infection control classes have been taking place in several of the school. Some needed to be rescheduled.
Unfinished Business
Betty was unable to attend the Medical Board meeting on Feb. 1, 2007. She was on hand in Cheyenne for the Legislation. Betty included in the board packets the Medical Board laser rule wording. Our bill, HB0218, failed. It never made it out of committee in the Senate. Wyoming Examiner Training has been set for May 4 & 5, 2007; Friday and Saturday prior to exams. A 10:00 start date on Friday the 4th was set to allow most Board members to arrive that am. Kirby made a motion seconded by Darci that we train extra examiners to cover the Board when necessary. Motion carried. Darci, Chris and Betty will attend the Region 3 and 4 NIC meeting April 21-22, 2007 in Missoula. Betty included the travel arrangements for those attending. Out of state reimbursement will be used.
New Business
Reciprocity for S. Korean applicants (level B) was discussed. Darci made a motion, seconded by Kirby to accept documentation for reciprocity for South Koreans licensed with the Korean Education Association, if they meet level B requirements. Motion carried. Kirby asked for feed back from the Board members concerning his reappointment. Progress of Laser Grade testing was discussed.
The Board recognized Laura W. and Cheryl Land from the College of Cosmetology in Gillette. Laura and Cheryl expressed their concern in the difficulty in finding Instructors. Several ideas were discussed. The board will do some research on these ideas.
The Board moved to Executive Session.
The Board reconvened. A motion was made by Kirby Morris, seconded by Darci Kite to dismiss complaint 06BC0001 without further action. Motion carried.
Annual Conference was discussed. It is in August in Rapid City. Betty gave an estimate as to how much it would cost for all Board members to attend.
With no further business before the Board a motion was made by Chris, seconded by Kirby to adjourn. Motion carried.
