Prior to the meeting, members of the Natrona Co. School District visited with the Board about a possible combined school involving high school and college credits. The board offered suggestions and when more information is available, the members will bring it back to the board.
President, Diane Pennington called the meeting to order at 1:42 p.m.
Roll Call (Present)
President, Diane Pennington; Vice President, Brenda Schwartzkopf; Christine Chesser, Secretary; board members Darci Kite, and Kirby Morris. Also in attendance was Betty Abernethy, Executive Director. The motion was made by Kirby Morris, seconded by Brenda Schwartzkopf to approve the minutes as presented for the September, 2007 meeting, motion carried.
Executive Directors Report
Betty presented the financial statements for September and October 07. A report of office operations was given by Betty Abernethy. The office has been working on cleaning up the data base and the Board Office is now set up for electronic deposits. The checks will be scanned directly from the Board Office. The cost of the scanner will be split between 3 agencies.
Inspectors Report
A written report was included in the Board packets from Inspectors Brenda Mathre and Matt Cisneros. It has been increasingly difficult for Brenda to do a physical inspection of all new salons, before they open. Brenda has been handling this by a phone interview and a disinfection compliance sheet that the salon owners are required to fill out and turn in before opening. The board discussed ideas to help alleviate this problem. Board members were willing to inspect new salons in their area. This may help free up time for Brenda to complete inspections of salons and independent contractors. President Diane Pennington expressed her concern of Board Members unfamiliar with inspections doing this until they have assisted Brenda on an inspection. Diane emphasized that the board is interested in compliance and education of licensees. All agreed that board members that have never done an inspection accompany Brenda before doing a new salon inspection.
Unfinished Business
More information is still needed for the Board to implement the Instructor Program and distance learning. It was reported that Computer Based testing through Laser Grade would be available on Oct. 1, 2007. This did not materialize and should be available soon. As of this meeting the Medical Board Rules and Regulations are still waiting for a signature from the Gov.
New Business
The Revised 2008 exam schedule is available and in all Board member packets. A reminder was given to all board members that all exams will be given on Sunday, beginning in January. The Board discussed helping with travel expensed for Ken Nelson to attend FARB. A motion was made by Kirby Morris and seconded by Brenda Schwartzkopf not to fund the request. Motion carried 3-1.
With no further business before the Board a motion was made by Chris, seconded by Kirby to adjourn. Motion carried.
Respectfully submitted
Christine Chesser
